This model is the e. Flim Lemez Vanguard 2 Door Fire Engine in red with gold ladder. The item is plastic and comes with friction drive.

The model has a one-piece, cast plastic body, 118mm in length, 48mm wide, and 58mm high (to top of ladder). It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines, grille, headlights, bumper, and doors. There is no glazing.

At the front the grille, headlights, and bumper remain unhighlighted. The bonnet carries body trim to represent the centre line and bonnet handle. To the sides there are outlines of two doors without door handles, and the body trim. The rear carries a gold or brass plated tin deck with swiveling ladder and a cast wheel that raises and lowers the ladder.

All of the original four wheels are present. The hubs are greyish metal and the tyres black rubber. The front wheels are attached to a steel axle that runs through a friction drive motor housed in the cab. The friction drive still works.

The base plate is a single piece, shaped, pressed tin unit. It has been press fitted to the body and two small screws hold it to the body. It appears to be painted black. The manufacturer's mark, a squat diamond with "E. Flim Lemez" in the centre and the word "Foreign" are stamped on the base.

I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be the 1960s. It was manufactured in Hungary.
