This model is the Glam Toy Products GTP-550 School Bus in Children's SChool Bus livery of purple, blue and yellow.
The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 123mm in length. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines and ridged roof line. There is no glazing - all the features are litho-printed onto the body. At the front are representations of the windows with driver and windscreen wiper. To the sides the child passengers can be seen, one or two in each window. The lower sides are in purple with blue "Children's School Bus" lettering, while the upper body is in blue. The roof is predominantly blue with a black ridge line to the rear and "SCHOOL BUS" in yellow lettering on a purple background above the front window. The lower front and rear are in yellow. The rear bears the legend "Made in England" below the rear window with a black numberplate below this with white lettering reading "G.T.P. 550".
The original two part, pressed tin wheels are still on the model, mounted on steel axles with crimped ends.
The baseplate is a single piece, pressed tin unit shaped with a strengthening panel down the centre line. It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body. It incorporates the front grille and appears not to have been plated or painted. There are no manufacturer's marks or country of origin details on the base.
I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between 1950 and 1959.
