This model is the Glam Toy Products GTP-509 4 Door Sedan Car in Black and Cream Taxi livery.

The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 103mm in length. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing - all the features are litho-printed onto the body. At the front are representations of the windows, head lights and grille, and printed numberplate – black lettering on a silver background [G.T.P. 509]. To the sides there are no outlines of the doors but door handles have been litho-printed below the appropriate windows with the right hand front window showing the profile of the driver. The lower sides are in black with a cream stripe running from the front bonnet area along the sides and across the rear. This cream panel has black flashes representing the door handles. The upper body is in black. The roof is black with a panel with silver background and blue "TAXI" lettering. The rear bears the legend "Made in England" below the boot area and below the silver numberplate with black lettering reading "G.T.P. 509".

The original two part, pressed tin wheels are still on the model, mounted on steel axles with crimped ends.

The baseplate is a single piece, flat, pressed tin unit. It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body. It has been plated or painted in a silver coating, which on this model has remained almost entirely intact. There are no manufacturer's marks or country of origin details on the base.

I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between 1950 and 1959.

This model is the Glam Toy Products GTP-509-b 4 Door Sedan Car in Metallic Red and Cream Taxi livery. I have coded it "b" as it is in a different colour to all the others I have so far acquired.

The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 103mm in length. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing - all the features are litho-printed onto the body. At the front are representations of the windows, head lights and grille, and printed number plate – metallic red lettering on a silver background [G.T.P. 509]. The front window also has a revolving "fare" meter mounted inside the body in a similar manner to the "ARGO" brand of tin toy issued in the USA. This leads me to believe there may have been some sharing of designs between Argo and GTP.

To the sides there are no outlines of the doors but door handles have been litho-printed below the appropriate windows with the right hand front window showing the profile of the driver (but not the front windscreen). The lower sides are in metallic red with a cream stripe running from the front bonnet area along the sides and across the rear. This cream panel has metallic red flashes representing the door handles. The upper body is in metallic red. The roof is metallic red with a panel with silver background and metallic red "TAXI" lettering. The rear bears the legend "Made in England" below the boot area and below the silver number plate with metallic red lettering reading "G.T.P. 509".

The original two part, pressed tin wheels are still on the model, mounted on steel axles with crimped ends.

The base plate is a single piece, pressed tin unit. It has various cut-outs and pressed in areas (see photo). It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body. It has been plated or painted in a gold coating, which on this model has remained almost entirely intact. There are no manufacturer's marks or country of origin details on the base.

I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between 1950 and 1959.
