This model is the Dinky 501-G-x Foden Diesel 8 Wheel Truck in Green and brownish-grey. This colour combination is not listed in any of the recognised references (not unusual), but the model is original and appears to date from around 1948.

The model features a cast metal cab and chassis, painted green, with a separate brownish-grey cast metal rear body. The bumper, grille, and headlights are picked out in silver paint, the front wheel guards and chassis are painted black, and there is no glazing in the windows. This model has the type 1 grille casting with narrow, high grille and cast script "Foden". This grille was used between 1947 and 1952.

All wheels consist of black rubber tyres on green ridged hubs, fitted to domed steel axles. The axles are held in place via tin clips which also helps to identify the casting as an early casting. There is a spare wheel on the chassis.

The base plate is actually the chassis casting and it is black painted metal with Dinky Supertoys to the front (behind the second axle), "FODEN" between the fuel tank and locker, and "Made in England, Meccano Ltd" on two lines, just in front of the third axle. The chassis is fixed in place through the use of a tin base, under the cab, that is connected to the cab by a body locating lug. The rear body is fitted to the chassis by means of a small machine screw and nut, that also serves to hold the spare wheel, and to the cab by two small body locating lugs which I can only assume helps hold the cab in place.

This model was issued between 1948 and 1952 and possibly only in 1948.

The model features a dark grey cast metal cab (type 1) and rear body. The chassis is red. The front bumper, grille, Foden badge, and headlights are painted silver. On the cab sides are two red flashes. All detail is cast into the model and it has no opening or operating parts.

The model has no interior and no glazing.

All wheels have red, cast ridged hubs with black rubber tyres on steel axles. The axles are held in place by folded tin axle clamps.

The base plate is actually the chassis casting and it is red painted metal with Dinky Supertoys cast parallel to the axles, just behind the tin cab base (which is blank) followed, progressively along the chassis casting, by "FODEN", then "Made in England" and lastly "Meccano Ltd".

This model was issued between 1947 and 1954.
