This model is the Dinky 174-H-5 Ford Mercury Cougar in Metallic Blue.
The model has opening front doors and a retractable rear aerial operated by a slider (on the base). The grille, front lights and front bumper with number plate [65-441-H?] are silver painted and form part of the base, as does the rear bumper and number plate. The roof on this model appears to have been repainted grey by a former owner, it should be the same colour as the body.
The interior is orange plastic with a cream steering wheel set into the dashboard. Matching orange plastic panels are fitted to the opening doors. The two front seats both tip forward. The glazing is clear all round with molded front windscreen wipers and rear view mirror.
The base plate is silver painted metal. At the centre top it reads "Dinky Toys, Meccano Ltd" on two lines, at the centre middle below the driveshaft it reads "Ford Mercury Cougar", followed by "Made in England, Prov Pat No 46371/68, (UK) on three lines at the centre bottom. To the rear, next to the rear axle, is the model reference number "174". There is also a crude representation of the driveshaft, exhaust system and suspension(?). It is held in place by two small self tapping screws, front and rear.
All wheels are of a cast metal type - solid, one piece, 24 "spoke" metal hubs, with a separate black "rubber" tyre, fitted to steel axles.
This model was issued between 1969 and 1973.
