This model is the Dinky 40b-G/151-G Triumph 1800 Saloon in an UK Army livery of olive. This is a Code 3 item with the casting completely dismantled, resprayed and reassembled.
This model features a single piece cast body with separate cast headlights (often missing from the models after all these years). The body casting is missing the two internal rear pillars that hold the axles in place which makes it a post 1949 casting. The entire body is painted olive with the grille and headlight lenses picked out in silver. The model has been embellished by the addition of military insignia representing the Royal Regiment of Artillery and that of the 7th Armoured Division (also known as the "Desert Rats") to the front and rear. The wheel hubs are of the cast metal variety and also painted olive. There is no interior or glazing.
The base plate is tinplate metal now painted black. It is marked with "Dinky Toys" at the top centre, "Triumph" in the middle centre, "Meccano Ltd" at the bottom centre, and "Made in England" on three lines over the rear axle.
All wheels are black rubber with olive cast hubs.
This casting was used between 1949 and 1956. This Code 3 item was made prior to 2008.
