This model is the Dinky 23e-G-4b Speed of the Wind Racing Car in Red with black hubs, silver trim, and tan driver. I have coded this item "4a" although it has black hubs and the references identify silver hubs, as it is clearly a prewar example with the detailed base and lack of reference number.

This model is a single piece casting with all features cast into the body casting (air intakes, exhausts, and driver). The front air intakes are red, the fin trim is silver, and the driver is a dark tan.

The model has a plain red sheet metal base with lettering that reads "Made in England" in the top centre, "Meccano Limited" to the centre bottom, "Dinky Toys" to the nose, and "Speed of the Wind" towards the tail. The base is held in place by two rivets or clips and it also incorporates a rudimentary depiction of the lower engine, gearbox, drive shaft, and rear differential.

There is no interior or glazing on this model.

All wheels are of the shaped cast metal type - solid one piece cast metal hubs, painted black, each with a separate black "herringbone" rubber tyre, mounted on crimped steel axles.

This model was issued between 1936 and 1940.
