This model is the Corgi 497-a-2 Oldsmobile Super 88 Man from Uncle Car in metallic purple. It has the Uncle logo on the bonnet.
There are no opening parts on this model. It comes with a chrome "Periscope" on the roof which when pressed operates the movement of the driver and passenger as they lean out the side windows to "shoot". The model also has two rotatable chromed searchlights on the bonnet (hood).
The interior is yellow plastic with a left hand drive steering wheel cast into the interior casting. A driver and passenger are fixed to the mechanism operated by the periscope, the driver is in white, the passenger in black and both sport guns that they fire out the side windows as the periscope is pressed. The glazing is blue tinted at the front, sides and rear with factory impressed "bullet holes" on the front windscreen that should not be mistaken for actual cracks in the glazing.
All wheels are of a shaped type - solid one piece metal hubs impressed with a wire spoke-like pattern - with a black "rubber" tyre.
The base plate is grey painted metal and is marked with "Oldsmobile Super 88" at centre front, CORGI TOYS at the centre rear, the UNCLE logo in the centre middle and PAT. APP. No 17507/66, MADE IN GT. BRITAIN at the centre bottom. The base plate is held in place with two machined rivets, front and rear.
This model was issued between August 1966 and the end of 1969.
