This model is the Corgi 438-A-x Landrover in greyish-green "Civil Defence" livery. It is a Code 3 item, is missing the rear canopy, and uses the second casting with solid front bumper as its base.
The vehicle has no opening parts. The exterior has a silver painted front bumper that is moulded as part of the body, and silver grille and head lights. There is no spare wheel attached to the front bonnet of the vehicle and the model is missing its tow hook assembly at the rear. On the bonnet is a poor decal in the shape of the Civil Defence crest. The front doors each carry a white on blue "CD" decal and have silver painted hinges and handles. The rear sides each have a Union Jack decal. The rear tailgate has silver hinges and handles, and the rear lights are picked out in red.
The interior is yellow plastic with a right hand drive, light grey plastic steering wheel inserted into the dashboard (instrument panel). The glazing is clear all round the cab.
All wheels are of the spun type - one piece polished spun metal hubs with a black rubber tyre, mounted on steel axles.
The base plate is pale grey, painted metal (repainted) and is marked with "Land Rover "109" W.B." on two lines at the centre top, Corgi Toys at the centre middle, and "Patent Application 21101/69, Made in Gt. Britain" on two lines at the bottom centre It is held in place with two machined rivets, one at the front and one at the rear.
This model used the 438 casting which was originally released in December 1962 in a stated scale of 1:46, and over 1,655,000 were sold.
